Our founder, Ina, moved to the U.S. alone at age 20, creating Matko from a deep longing for her mom’s home-cooked Korean meals. How It All Started
Matko located in the bustling heart of San Francisco in 2018, we opened our doors with a simple mission: to make authentic Korean cuisine accessible to everyone. Korean food, rich in flavor and health benefits, has long been under-discovered. We set out to change that, one meal at a time.

What Matko Means
The name “Matko” is derived from the Korean word “Mat,” meaning “flavor,” and “Ko,” from “Korea.” Together, Matko translates to “Flavors of Korea”.
The Matko logo beautifully combines simplicity and vibrancy, featuring a minimalist yet welcoming design of a dining table—the heart of every home, where the magic happens.
